BACKGROUND:
Odzala Kokoua Foundation is the management entity of Odzala National Park, RC. The Foundation is directly affiliated to African Parks Network who is a non-profit organisation that takes total responsibility for the rehabilitation and long-term management of national parks in partnership with governments and local communities.
Job overview: The Special Projects Manager primarily assists the Park Manager with administrative aspects, including report writing, proposal preparation and supports various departments in technical and administrative issues where required. The nature of the position will require close coordination with various departments in the Park on a broad range of aspects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Donor Reporting and Proposal Writing: Both large governmental entity funding (EU, UNESCO, INL etc.) as well as private donors and smaller grants. Odzala has a portfolio of 12-14 grants.
- Internal Reporting and Administration: Assist with the compilation of AP annual, monthly and weekly reports; 5-Year Business Plans and other strategic documents; administrative documents needed for Board Meetings etc.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: implement and coordinate monitoring systems to assess performance and facilitate timely and accurate reporting.
- Partnership Management: Maintain, foster and expand partnerships with key players in Northern Congo (conservation and development NGOs, logging concessions, etc.).
- Donor Engagement: Conduct donor site visits and assist fundraising team at Head Office when needed.
- Visibility: Ensure the visibility of Odzala at a national level through various initiatives and events, in coordination with the head of the Liaison Office.
- Team Management: Assist with HR development strategy and support the development of local skills where needed.
- Media and Marketing: in coordination with the head of the Liaison Office - supply required information/content for the AP Odzala website and AP social media; provide necessary information relating to the Park to tourists/journalists/visitors;
- Administrative Support where needed (official correspondence etc.).
Competencies, qualifications and experience needed for the role:
1. Experience in Grant management, report and proposal writing (EU experience is an advantage). 2. Team and Project Management skills 3. Adaptability to constantly changing environments 4. Fluent in French and English (both written and spoken) 5. Administrative and computer skills 6. Diplomacy and ability to build good relations 7. Attention to details 8. Punctuality
Qualifications:
Degree in conservation science; Master in Administration/ business degree.
Language Skills: French/ English: Spoken, written (Required)
